CTE Advanced Studies students can enroll in postsecondary classes during their second year at Van Buren Tech. Through a partnership with Western Michigan University, several students from a range of CTE programs participated in BUS 1750: Applying Business Fundamentals through the Haworth College of Business. The college credit earned in this course is fully transferable for VBT students.
In this course, students learn the foundations of how businesses operate, from key functions within an organization to how companies create value and generate profit. They also work with conceptual and quantitative business models and take part in an integrative business simulation that helps them practice real-world decision-making in a small-group setting.
On Wednesday, these students presented their final projects based on the simulation in the Dean’s Conference Room at the Haworth College of Business and received a tour of the college. For students choosing to pursue college after high school, this experience gives them a real advantage and offers a first look at what college coursework and expectations feel like while still in high school.
Thank you to Western Michigan University and the Haworth College of Business for your continued partnership and support of our students.
