The Michigan Department of Education has given the Van Buren Intermediate School District and Michigan State University the responsibility of recruiting migrant families who are residing in school districts that are not currently providing migrant education services. We have currently identified over one hundred and thirty families in our region. 

Goals of the Program

1. Identify migrant students that are currently not being serviced by a local migrant program. 

2. Connect migrant families with the appropriate service providers.

3. Become a vigorous advocate for the migrant students educational needs.

4. Find the best strategy for servicing pockets of migrants. Be it through the referral of migrant students to a neighboring migrant program or assisting in creation of a new migrant program.
