Migrant Education

Migrant Education provides academic and support services for migratory children. Migrant students include children whose parents have moved across state lines and/or across local school districts' boundaries in search of agricultural employment, or children of former migrants who have been settled out of the migrant stream for three years or less.

The Migrant Education program has been recognized as an exemplary program by the U.S. Department of Education in 1973, 1978, and 1985.

The Van Buren Intermediate School District Migrant Education Program annually hosts teachers from four states in Mexico.  These teachers come to Michigan to be part of our Summer Migrant Program.
