An exciting opportunity for youth in your school is coming to Van Buren County. The ISD is partnering with Van Buren Community Mental Health to create a Youth Advisory Panel (YAP).
The panel will be composed of two students (8th to 12th grade) from each district. Students must complete an application for this position, participate in an interview, accept the offer if selected, provide a signed parent permission form, participate in monthly meetings by video (45- 50 minutes in length), and attend in-person quarterly meetings. The in-person meetings will be scheduled to coincide with transportation to and from the Tech Center. This allows more students to participate since parents will not need to transport unless there is an event outside of school hours or in another county.
Consideration will be given to attendance and grades. We are also looking for passion and a true desire for advocacy and learning.
Applications will be due by the December break. Interviews will take place after the return to school in January.
