Spend a Day with MeL: Michigan's Electronic Library


The Michigan Electronic Library (MeL) is so much more than just a place to find books. MeL provides educators and students free access to some of the best educational resources.

In this workshop, participants will learn: ­ About the Michigan eLibrary and how to navigate the site. ­ Steps to access the pre­paid subscription database content. ­ How to integrate MeL eResources into the curriculum and some tips on how to use MeL to help prepare for standardized testing.

Resources we will explore include: Kids Gateway, which includes the Homework Helpers, Storytime, Games & Activities, and About Michigan centers. Databases, include: Scholastic BookFlix, Britannica School Suite, World Book for Kids, Early World of Learning, eBooks K­8 Collection, kids InfoBits, NoveList K8+, Research in Context, and LearningExpress Library.
