Greenhouse

Van Buren ISD Greenhouse Program is a fully operational greenhouse with a certified Master Gardener/specialized assistant who provides students with hands-on-learning in the areas of science, social studies, math and work skills.

Weekly activities include: care and cultivation of seeds, seedlings and plant cuttings, maintaining surrounding flower gardens and raised beds and using some o the plants for science projects related to science and nature. Their plantings end up being sold in our annual Greenhouse plant sale in the spring.

Goals of the program: Students will understand the life cycle of plants through hands on experience. Students will understand the source of their own food. Students will learn about plant life native to Michigan. Students will learn basic gardening skills. Students will also learn positive work habits.
