What is the Van Buren Youth Initiative?

The after-school program being created in Van Buren County is designed to focus on fine arts, aiming to enrich students' educational experiences across the county. This program intends to offer a diverse range of fine arts activities including painting, drawing, music, theater, and dance, allowing students to explore their creative talents and develop new skills. The program is inclusive, targeting benefits for all students, regardless of their background or skill level. By participating in this program, students will have the opportunity to engage in artistic expression, enhance their appreciation for the arts, and foster a supportive community of young artists. The initiative not only aims to cultivate students' artistic abilities but also to contribute to their overall personal and academic growth.

Meet the VB Youth Initiative Coordinator

Erin Kucharski is a Van Buren resident, she is a Hartford graduate, and now lives on a small lake in Lawrence with her husband, Tony, and their two daughters, Paisley (4) and Sophia (10 months). Her husband and her are high school sweethearts with a passion for their community.

In her free time, she enjoys spending time by the water and anything related to food! One might say she is very food-motivated.

Career-wise, she comes from the CTE side of education and loves helping students find their fit and plan for the future.
