    Dear Parents and Students, 

    We are getting ready for another healthy school year by continuing to participate in the National School Lunch and Breakfast Program. We offer Universal Breakfast by providing “Breakfast in the Classroom” offered to all students enrolled at the Bert Goens Learning Center. Please encourage your child to take advantage of this very important meal to start their day. Both breakfast and lunch are prepared daily at the Van Buren Tech by the Culinary Arts & Catering Management Program and delivered to the Bert Goens Learning Center kitchen where our friendly staff serve a healthy breakfast and lunch.

    We offer a wide variety of foods over the month that meet the USDA Nutritional Requirements. Please visit the webpage for more information such as special dietary requirements forms provided for you and your doctor’s office to fill out if your child requires some special dietary requirements. It is important to get these forms in promptly so we can accommodate and meet those needs in our meal planning. You can find monthly menus for breakfast and lunch, application forms, meal patterns set by the USDA and updates provided. One of the new pages you will see this year is “Fun with Food Photos”. This page currently has photos from “Start Your Engines”. A fun celebration we had in March with students participating in the breakfast program. What a great day as students came home with a Hot Wheel car (Walmart donated the first 50), a baseball hat donated by Michigan International Speedway and stickers provided by Lane Automotive.
