Regional Program in Lawrence
The Regional Program in Lawrence is housed within the general educational setting in Lawrence Elementary. Students in the Regional Program typically have special education eligibility in the following areas: Autism Spectrum Disorder, Early Childhood Developmental Delay or Cognitive Impairment.
This program is comprised of two classrooms: Early Elementary and Later Elementary, which collectively spans kindergarten through sixth grade. The classrooms in this program use ABA, Structured Teaching, visual supports, work systems, and other evidence-based practices. In collaboration with Lawrence Elementary, students participate in the general education environment through mainstreaming opportunities to the maximum extent possible for each individual student. Additionally, students are offered social opportunities and social skills instruction through daily instruction, social work service, and peer support systems. The ultimate goal of this program is to prepare each student for success in his/her home school district.
