Charges for Using the VBISD Facilities
The Van Buren Intermediate School District can accommodate a variety of
different videoconferencing needs, utilizing two different kinds of
networks. The kinds of ITV rooms and equipment to which we are connecting
may determine what network can be used. Networks can operate on either 56K
or 64K bandwidths. Because of this, different rate prices can be involved
for similar kinds of videoconferences.
The prices for services from the Van Buren Intermediate School District
are listed as follows:
| Hourly room fees to use the Distance Learning
Classroom for videoconferencing |
$20.00 nonprofit
$30.00 for profit |
Equipment Videobridge fees (per hour for the use of
the videobridge itself)
This $20.00 per port (each incoming/outgoing connection |
$20.00 per site nonprofit
$30.00 per site for profit |
| On-site Technical Support 8:00am-5:00pm |
$15.00 per hour nonprofit
$20.00 per site for profit |
| On-site Technical Support after 5:00 pm |
$25.00 per hour nonprofit
$30.00 per hour for profit |
Normally, one of the most expensive parts of the videoconference is the
line charge set by the telephone company that provides the lines for the
conference. This is augmented by the fact that the conference requires at
least six separate lines for quality audio and video transmission.
To schedule a conference using ISDN lines, (64K) the cost is:
Nonprofit, is $90.00/hour within the USA
For profit is $105.00/hour within the USATo schedule a conference
using the MiCTA Network, there are two price rates.
These are On-Net to On-Net, and On-Net to Off-Net. When the call is On-Net
to On-Net, that means that we are dialing another MiCTA member using a T-1
line that we, as MiCTA members, have leased via the MiCTA organization’s
negotiated rates.
The rate for On-Net to On-Net is $14.40 per hour, to anywhere in the
country, for a 672K connection (12 channels). This is the higher quality
connection.
A video connection that goes On-Net (a MiCTA member) to Off-Net (not a
MiCTA member) is $18.60 per hour, anywhere in the country for a 672K
connection.
The type of connection that we make between sites may not be the kind of
connection (least expensive) that we want. It depends on the equipment and
networks at the remote site, as well as on our site. This will affect the
cost of a conference. |
