Cadet Teacher Academy Program

The Cadet Teacher Academy program is a dual-enrollment course designed to attract young adults in high school to the teaching profession through a challenging introduction to teaching.  Students will gain practical experience and knowledge about education before committing to the college degree program.

Students spend two days per week working with the instructor/coordinator learning about such things as instructional strategies and classroom management.  The instructor/coordinator organizes and implements the instructional program, assists and monitors the students in the classroom experience, and coordinates college credits for the Cadet Teacher Interns.

A major benefit of this program is the mentoring opportunities available to the Cadet Teacher Interns in Van Buren County. 

During the mentoring and observation time (three days per week), Cadet Teacher Interns gain knowledge and skills related to their career goal in education and improved self-esteem and confidence.
