First year students spend 350 hours in the classroom and clinic learning the basic skills and related theory.  Practice is carried out on manikins and also on fellow students under and exchange agreement.  After completion of 350 hours the student is eligible to perform procedures on salon patrons.

Second year students continue studying theory while practicing skills on patrons in the clinic. Within this clinical setting, the second years students learn all aspects of managing and working in a beauty salon. Following completion of the attendance requirements and competency in the course curriculum at a minimum of 75 percent, the students may apply to take the state examination for licensing in Cosmetology.
