Below is a list of six "positive indicators" that will form the foundation of a potential employer's decision of whether or not the resume you submitted is worthy of an interview.

Appearance
  • Is the résumé neat and clean?  
  • Does the preparation show careful attention to detail?

Construction

  • Is the résumé well organized?  
  • Can you tell what the candidate has accomplished and wants to do?  
  • Is a logical pattern followed?  
  • Is the structure parallel?  
  • Is there a sense of proportion?

Work Habits

  • Is there attention to neatness?  
  • Is there attention to detail and accuracy?  
  • Does the work seem well done or sloppy?
Writing
  • Is the style consistent?  
  • Are there grammar or punctuation errors?

Citizenship

  • Participate in professional activities?  
  • Participate in community activities?  
  • Leadership potential? 
  • Organizing potential?

Suitability

  • Team player or individual contributor?  
  • Is the person achievement oriented?  
  • Process or product orientation?
  • Does the personality fit with the job?
