Programs and Support Services > VBISD Operated Programs > Early On

Early On is a federal and statewide early intervention system that evaluates and provides a range of services to assist families with infants and toddlers from birth to 36 months. Eligibility is based on the child demonstrating a developmental delay or having an established condition that may lead to a delay. A local service coordinator works with the family and service team to develop a specific plan called an Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP) for the child and family. The IFSP is tailored to the unique needs of each family, taking into account the type of services and supports they desire and are available through county agencies.

There is no cost to families for Early On evaluations or assessments, IFSP development or service coordination. If there are costs for direct services, the service coordinator will assist the family in locating financial resources when possible. One of the purposes of Early On is to assist families in locating and accessing available community services and resources which may assist in their child’s development.
