Educational Programs > Career/Technology Education:
Our purpose is to provide career/technical education for learners in our county and region. Our mission is to "Empower students to progress toward their life goals." Students who attend the Van Buren Technology Center (VBTC) receive individualized career, academic, and technical instruction. Our twenty-eight programs of study meet industry expectations specific to: job specialty skills, job dependability skills, and teamwork skills. VBTC programs are eligible for post-secondary credit available through many area community colleges. The Van Buren Technology Center is an extension of each participating school district in Van Buren County, which includes: Bangor, Bloomingdale, Covert, Decatur, Gobles, Hartford, Lawrence, Lawton, Mattawan, Paw Paw, and South Haven. In addition, students may enroll on a tuition basis from districts outside of Van Buren County, and students currently attend from three such districts: Dowagiac, Marcellus and Watervliet. Students attend their home school for one half of their day, and spend the other at the VBTC. Students wishing to attend the VBTC enroll through their local high school guidance office. In general, students attend during the course of their junior and/or senior year. Adults seeking specialized training may enroll directly at the VBTC. Click here to go to the VBTC web page.
