When the Van Buren Skill Center opened its doors to students in January 1976, it had two purposes: give students the opportunity to explore different careers, and prepare students to enter the work force. Times have changed, so has our name and mission!
Today, we are no longer an alternative to post-secondary education. The purpose of the Van Buren Technology Center is to prepare students for a world of opportunities through a combination of applied learning, work experiences and college course work. While the Technology Center continues to give students the opportunity to explore career choices, imagine earning 15 or more college credits at no cost to parents or the sending school!
As the needs of business and industry change, one thing remains constant, the Van Buren Technology Center will continue to provide students with state-of-the-art training to prepare them for whatever journey they may choose in life.
