The Michigan Department of Education has given the Van Buren
Intermediate School District, Michigan State University and the
Northwestern Michigan Migrant Program the responsibility of recruiting
migrant families who are residing in school districts that are not
currently providing migrant education services. Further explanation of the program can be found on the memorandum below by the Michigan Department of Education. Goals of the Program
1. Identify migrant students that are currently not being serviced by a local migrant program.
2. Connect migrant families with the appropriate service providers.
3. Become vigorous advocate for the migrant students educational needs.
