One of the requirements to substitute teach is being fingerprinted for a criminal record check by the Michigan State Police and FBI. Van Buren ISD still completes the fingerprinting for subs, but the criminal record check goes directly to PESG. If you need to be fingerprinted for substitute teaching, contact Barbara Coombs at 269-539-5206 to set up an appointment. The fee to process the fingerprinting is $55 and must be paid with cash or check.
Please note: If you have been fingerprinted by Livescan method, as of January 1, 2006, for a school system, chances are you will not need to be fingerprinted again. PESG will have you fill out a release form to send to the holder of your records.
To contact PESG call 1-866-SUBPASS (782-7277) or go to their web site at http://www.subpass.com/ for information on signing up to sub.
