{Career Camp}
Not Your Typical Summer Camp!
For Van Buren County students who have completed grades 7, 8, or 9, Career Camp is a fun week in which students can explore a career area of their choice! Students can learn some skills, visit a business/industry site, and complete a project. There are ten different camps available.
Career Camp is held the third full week of June each year, from 9:00 am to 2:30 pm. Transportation to the Technology Center will be provided. More information will follow in the parent packets.
Camps fill up fast, so see your school counselor to register as soon as possible, or just follow the link below to register on-line! Deadline for applications is April 1, 2010! For more information, please call 269.539.5347.

Do you like art and computers? Step into the shoes of a commercial artist as you explore the tools used in the industry. Let your self-expression reign as you try-out a wide variety of art forms using state-of-the-art Macintosh computers. There’s plenty of room for individual interests and hobbies too! You’ll even take home a DVD to show your friends and family!

Are you a NASCAR fan? In Auto Crew, you’ll learn to change oil, rotate tires, and more! Visit Lane Automotive to see race cars and meet race car drivers!

Do you like nature? Explore the wild side of agriscience careers! Learn compass skills on a nature trail, study animal habitats at a zoo, be creative with plant or floral design, and learn how to handle this baaaaaad farm animal visitor! |

{Build a Bot} |
Explore the WWR--the Wonderful World of Robots! In this camp, you’ll literally find out what makes a robot tick! Build a robot, and see what it takes to make it MOVE! |

{Carpenter} |
Do you know what all those funny tools are that carpenters use? What’s the right way to hold a hammer? Pound a nail? Ever use a measuring tape or read a blueprint? This camp will answer your questions about the hand tools that carpenters use. You’ll learn all about them, including tool safety, then complete a woodworking project to take home!

Ever wonder about police work? Would you like to investigate a crime scene? Dust for prints? Take footwear impressions? In this camp, you’ll even talk with real police officers!

There are some amazing opportunities available for engineers! Here’s your chance to explore the world of engineering! Do some computer aided drafting, operate production equipment, and try your hand at welding! Also, visit a modern engineering facility!

{Go Green} |
Turn your fingers green in this camp! Students will explore alternative energy sources: hydrogen fuel, solar, wind power, and others! Build an alternative energy model, then see if it works. A field trip to an alternative energy facility is included in the week!

Learn new computer skills that rock the world of Information Technology (I.T.)! Run software, link computers, install hard drives, and more! You’ll even build your own web site! Don’t let careers in this fast growing field pass you by!

Want answers to all of those medical questions you wonder about? In this fast-paced, hands-on camp, we will learn basic first aid, make emergency kits, and much more! Join us for a fun-filled, but totally MENTAL, Medical Mania Marathon that includes a trip to Borgess Hospital! |
